Meet Samuel Henderson, Mentor
Sam is an educator, trainer and designer, who is driven to help people with communication, and learning skills that can be applied in their lives. Sam has been described as calm and stable by most that know him.
Professional Background
With a professional career in training, he has been a team leader for a group that taught life skills in schools in South Africa, a group leader for teens and young people and helped run after school clubs. This background enables Sam to communicate with others effectively, listen and engage with them “where they are at” in their lives. Sam believes in an individualised approach to mentoring, making sure to tailor mentoring to the needs of the mentee.
Sam believes that games are an excellent resource for skills building. He has used interactive storytelling (D&D), computer games and tabletop wargaming to allow people to try, learn and find out what succeeds in a safe environment. He believes games make learning more enjoyable and engaging, leading to increased motivation and participation, while also fostering critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and communication skills.
