Background: Reuben Maclaren

Reuben has been gaming from a young age and plays a wide variety of games. In secondary school he dropped out due to mental health reasons, only reintroducing himself to the education system in college where he studied Maths and Computer Science. After college he did an apprenticeship in being a Learning Mentor where he tutored and supported students in GCSE and A-Level classrooms.

Expertise 

Reuben is an empathic mentor who has lived tough experiences with his mental health. This inside view of the difficulties that go with being isolated and struggling with mental health gives him the ability to relate and build connections with mentees to support them. His love for mathematics and puzzles goes alongside his critical thinking. He often plays team games such as Heroes of the Storm and escape rooms which shows his ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.

Qualifications

Bsc(Hons) Mathematics, Level 3 Learning Mentor, TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values (PQF) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Level 2.

Traits

OCD, ASD and Anxiety. People know him as being empathetic, a team player, and always there for others when needed and helping them solve their problems.

Favorite games

Sea of Thieves, ARK: Survival Evolved, Deep Rock Galactic, Heroes of the Storm, Dead Cells, Minecraft.

Interests

Reuben is interested in all kinds of hobbies but has some deep enthusiasm for board games and card games, sword fighting, and badminton.
